It Only Took a Suitcase is a zine project featured in Her Suitcase: A Voyage of Women Immigrants Exhibition. Through two interconnected zines, it explores the shared yet unique experiences of a mother and daughter as they navigate the emotions of departure and displacement.

The mother, seeing her younger self reflected in her daughter, understands the challenges that lie ahead. Yet, she gives her daughter the freedom to chart her own path. As she waves goodbye, memories of her own bittersweet farewell as an immigrant resurface, bridging the past and present.

Presented as a zine, the project juxtaposes two heartfelt poems, creating an emotional dialogue between generations. Together, they trace the intertwined yet distinct emotional landscapes of migration, offering a poignant glimpse into the bonds of family and the journey of forging a new life.
